How to Prepare Your Property Before the Concrete Crew Arrives

April 15, 2025 | 4 min read | Wagner Concrete Co.

You've signed the estimate and your project date is set. Before the crew arrives, a few simple preparations on your end help the project run efficiently and protect things you care about.

Clear the Work Area

Remove vehicles, furniture, potted plants, toys, and any other items from the work zone and the access path. Equipment — a concrete truck, a mixer, wheelbarrows — needs a clear path and adequate turning room. Anything parked within the work area may need to be moved regardless; doing it the night before saves time on the day of.

Mark Any Underground Utilities

If you haven't already, call 811 (the national call-before-you-dig line) at least 3 business days before work begins to have underground utilities marked. This protects you, your property, and our crew. We will ask about utilities before we begin any excavation, but the homeowner is responsible for ensuring the call has been made.

Plan for Vehicle Access

Once your driveway is poured, it won't be drivable for 7 days. Plan where you'll park during that window. If you need to get vehicles out before the pour begins, coordinate that with us. Concrete trucks are heavy and can't back off a cured driveway they just poured — the logistics need to be thought through in advance.

Talk to Your Neighbors

If equipment access requires temporarily using a neighbor's driveway or parking area, a quick conversation beforehand prevents friction on the day of. We'll let you know during the estimate if we anticipate needing access beyond your property line. Ready to schedule? Call (479) 551-1642.
