Get Everything in Writing
A verbal quote is worth nothing. Every concrete contractor should provide a written estimate that specifies what's included: square footage, concrete thickness, finish type, demolition and haul-away, base preparation, and reinforcement. Compare the Same Scope
The most common source of price differences is scope mismatch. One quote includes demo; another doesn't. One specifies 4-inch concrete; another quietly uses 3.5. One includes proper base prep; another assumes the existing base is fine. Read each quote carefully and ask questions if anything is vague. You're comparing apples when you should be comparing specifications.
Ask About the Mix Design
Not all concrete is the same. Ask each contractor what PSI concrete they use and whether it's a standard mix or upgraded. Higher-strength mixes cost more — and a contractor using a weaker mix to lower their price is cutting a corner that will show up over time.
Check for Warranty
